On Friday evening, July 14th, Lizzy Stuyfzand of ArtEZ Institute of the Arts won the Lichting 2017, the prize for up and coming fashion talent. In a spectacular catwalk show, 14 fashion graduates presented their graduation collections to national and international fashion professionals. The panel chose Lizzy Stuyfzand as the most promising talent of the Netherlands. Lizzy won the Lichting 2017 Award worth € 10,000, – made available by the Meester Koetsier Foundation. The Audience Favourite Award, powered by Ten Cate, chosen by a select group of fashion professionals in the audience, went to Sarah Bruylant of AMFI. She went away with € 3,000, -.
Lizzy Stuyfzand presented her collection “Call me magpie” in which handcrafted techniques and London club kids came together. She managed to find the perfect balance between creativity, cheerfulness and authenticity. The international panel praised Lizzy for her research in textile and craftsmanship.

The winner of the Lichting 2017 Award was chosen by a renowned international panel consisting of Zowie Broach (Head of Fashion Royal College of Art London), Federico Poletti (Sr. Editor Manintown, Vogue Italia and Seminar of Business Of Fashion), Philippe Pourhashemi (Freelance fashion writer, Contributor to A Shaded View on Fashion and Editor-at-Large for Fucking Young) and Floor Kolen (Fashion Designer and Light 2010 participant. Previously she worked for Balenciaga and is now responsible for Lancel’s leather goods) . The panel was impressed with the level of the fourteen talents and in the end chose Lizzy Stuyfzand as winner of the Lichting 2017 Award.
