They chose Nikki, graduate of the Royal Academy of the Arts The Hague, as the winner. She was awarded with the V&D talent award and a grant of 10.000 euro to develop her next collection.
The panel, consisting of: NoéMie Schwaller (editor-in-chief DASH magazine), Krystyna Metz (Head of product development Ann Demeulenmeester), Raïssa Verhaeghe (brand strategist & business development for different fashion labels in the luxury industry) en Patrick de Muynck (head of design department Polimoda Florence) were impressed by the work of all graduates and chose Nikki as the winner due to her strong concept and professional execution.
Nikki Duijst showed a selection of her graduation collection “As we seek our face.” For the collection Nikki researched her personal fear of the spotlight versus the pressure of social media to portray a more special version of yourself. The collection plays with the idea of anonymity, femininity and the crossroad between hiding and revealing one self.
Lichting is an initiative by Fashion Week Netherlands, HTNK fashion recruitment & consultancy in collaboration with V&D. The panel is supported by Het Nieuwe Instituut.
